I wish I could say it was over. Unfortunately, my Giant Church Inc story is more common than we will ever know. Unless we’ve willfully refused to learn about what’s going on in the church, we’re all painfully aware. The stories of abuse, greed, and scandal continue to make headlines, and those are only the ones which come to light. Think of the thousands of others which are kept in the dark, covered up, and ignored.
I was glad to listen to recent episodes of The Rise and Fall of Mars Hill. The host and his guests discussed ways we can heal and turn our eyes again on Jesus. My reason for writing the series is similar. In my first post in the series, I told the reason I share my story. My prayer is that we wake up to what is happening in the church, that our hearts are broken over it, and we get back to our first love: Jesus Christ.
Its Own Place
This continues to be why I post and why I gave Giant Church Inc its own place. Now anyone can find this story, the resources, the links to experts, podcasts, and other helpful information right here at Giant Church Incorporated. This was a necessary work. I am thankful for all who encouraged me in it and who’ve been helped by it.
My work here has and will continue to slow down. I will now focus more on Live Like It Matters and the work I will do there. I want to help others know Jesus better as I get to know him better. My work will include guiding others in their spiritual formation through mentorship, journeying with them through the stages of faith, teaching the Bible, writing and teaching curriculum for other groups, and more.
I know I’m right where I need to be and look forward to what’s ahead.
But if I say, “I will not mention his word or speak anymore in his name,” his word is in my heart like a fire, a fire shut up in my bones. I am weary of holding it in; indeed, I cannot.
